fun, easy, authentic kids’ portraits

It seems these days you have two options when it comes to professional kids portraits: 1) outdoor locations like beaches, fields of wildflowers, or local parks, and 2) school portraits.

Both of these have their time and place, for sure. But if you and your kids are anything like me and my kids, it’s too dang hot out there to look cute (where are my frizzy-haired friends?), there are too many mosquitos and noseeums, and after maybe 15 minutes of behaving themselves, my kids would be wandering off, picking flowers, picking their noses, picking fights, throwing sand, jumping in waves, kicking water at each other, all while their dad and I would be chasing after them, yelling at them to stay clean. In short, the whole thing would be a stressful nightmare.

And school portraits…talk about a crap shoot. Personally, I’d be thrilled if my kid came home with a hilariously ill-timed photo of them rolling their eyes or looking less than thrilled to be there, but I always end up with the typical, smiling, This Is What Your Kid Looks Like This Year obligatory photo. It took the photographer less than a minute to create and it basically has zero personality.

It’s time for something different, don’t ya think?

Let’s schedule a photo shoot of your kids that doesn’t involve outdoor locations and all that those entail; a shoot that’s focused entirely on making sure your kids are having FUN so that they can be their authentic selves; a shoot that’s temperature controlled so good moods abound; a shoot that won’t be affected by the weather or location of the sun in the sky.

My whole goal when photographing kids is to make them as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Their comfort is critical to my success because it’s that comfort that allows them to be their genuine selves in front of my camera. I’ve never had a client leave my studio stressed or worried that their photos won’t turn out because their child didn’t cooperate. In fact, all of my clients have left with their kids saying things like, “That was SO fun! When can we come back???” or (my favorite so far, from a 7 yr old) “OMG MOM! I just LOVE her!” And of course the photos reflect the fun the kids have so they’re impossible not to love.

Take a look at a slideshow of some of my favorite images from some of my favorite shoots and tell me you weren’t smiling through the whole thing. And then give me a call at (813) 591-4855 or shoot me an email at info@cindyvaldezphoto.com to get on the schedule.
